As minimalist decor increases in popularity, designers are looking for ways to break things up while keeping things simple. This is where patterned tile steps in!
We’re starting to see it more and more in the Sacramento market, but it’s been an integral part of the design culture in more modern cities for quite some time.
At NorCal Homes, we’ve been introducing it subtly. First, we began with inlaid designs. Contrasting colored marble and stone are set to form shapes and designs, creating patterned looks that add chic flair to a space. I’ve seen this EVERYWHERE. I was watching TV recently (in an effort to maintain credibility, I won’t divulge the name of the program) and in one of the shots, Kris, Kim, and Khloe walked into a bathroom that had the EXACT same patterned marble tile that we installed at one of our East Sac projects last year! We try not to let the fame go to our heads… ?
“It’s literally everything.” – probably Kim
Now, people are beginning to venture more into the realm of painted tile, NorCal Homes included. After inlaid patterns were such a hit, we started installing patterned, solid tile pieces in laundry rooms and eventually bathrooms.
This vintage-meets-whimsical finish and design is great for adding a subtle feminism to a space that is otherwise neutral or rustic. These are a great compliment to a farmhouse-inspired space! Do you think you would ever give patterned tile a try? If you want to give it a shot but aren’t looking to spend a lot of money, hop on Pinterest and check out some of their DIY painted tile guides. With a little skill and some patience, you can recreate some of these awesome looks at home!
Check out that shower!! *heart eyes*
There is a wide variety of directions you can go with these designs. Vintage, modern, masculine, dramatic, art-deco… the options are never ending. Which one is your favorite?
