Here’s A Couple Of Chic DIY’s So You Can Bring It Home, Too.
Been gone for a minute now I’m back with the *blog post*. Okay, it might be not be quite as catchy as Lil’ Kim’s 2003 hit, but something tells me you guys might enjoy this more. (Or maybe not, and if that’s the case, call me! Let’s split a pitcher of margs.) Anyways, the flu kicked my butt last week so my blog game was slacking. To make up for what I missed, this post is a combination of 3 different topics that I try to cover each week.

Things We’re Obsessed with – We love the Farmhouse trend! Plain. And. Simple.
Let’s jump right in! Farmhouse finishes and décor really started going mainstream with Chip and Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper. Joanna started showcasing her style on their TV show and people loved it! Between their beautiful renovations to their lovable personalities, the show took off… and so did Magnolia. Farmhousers (I just made that up) think of this storefront as sort of the holy grail of all things shabby chic. Magnolia is the couple’s Texas/online “boutique” which has also become a line of home décor at Target. Ummm, #killingit.
The combination of clean, neutral tones and rustic accents makes the trend appealing to a wide audience. We’ve talked before about how more and more people are bringing natural wood indoors, which is a huge part of achieving the Farmhouse look.
If you want to start adding fun, simple Farmhouse touches, try giving these easy and inexpensive DIY’s a try!
To create the chic photo frame, all you need is:
- An old frame (the bigger the better!)
- Hardware Cloth or Chicken Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Staple Gun
- Mini Clothes Pins
All you need to do is cut the wire/cloth to fit, staple it to the back of the frame, and pin your photos in place! I could totally do this, and if I can, you can. To see the full tutorial, check it out here.
Next is this SUPER cute lake sign. You can choose to have it say whatever you like. For example, if you have a favorite city, make a stencil for that instead. The possibilities are endless!
To make the sign, all you need is:
- A piece of weathered woof
- Sandpaper
- A computer/printer
- A pencil
- White paint
- A small paint brush
Simply sand the board lightly. You don’t need to sand too much, you do want it to look rustic, after all. Then type up and print out the wording you wish to have on your sign. Lay the words out how you want them to appear on the sign and trace them with the pencil. You want to push kind of hard when you do this because the goal is to leave the indentations on the wood below. Lift up the paper and paint within the lines. Yep! It’s that simple.
